The Back Deck: Your Premier Seafood Venue in Virginia Beach

The vibes were immaculate, and I love that you can bring your dogs here! It’s right on the water, which makes for the perfect setting. The service was excellent, fast and attentive, with multiple staff members checking in on us throughout. I’d recommend upgrading to the wood-fired pizza since the regular crust was pretty bad. The crab dip had amazing flavor, though I didn’t notice actual crab in it. Overall, a great spot and I’ll definitely be back to try more from the menu!

The most beautiful views, great pizza, and best happy hours. BBQ chicken wood fire crust pizza... 10/10 Diet cokes were crisp as a fresh ocean breeze. My friends were drinking the $3.50 whiskey lemonade!! Great and fun service, very efficient with food and drinks!! Overall----- AMAZING VIBES

This place was perfect to visit as we had our pup with us. The staff was lovely and immediately gave our pup some water and brought her a treat. Food was great! Had the fish tacos and Scallop Sandwich. Will be back!

Awesome food, service, and venue right on the water! A little windy, but can't beat that sunset! Crab dip is fantastic, especially with pita rounds. Mango salsa, queso, and cheesy bread are all very solid, can't go wrong. Rum Runner is a deceivingly delicious drink that packs a punch, loved it! Sunset Sangia was impressively complex with perfectly-balanced alcohol and fruit juice components. Mediterranean salad is massive and fresh! Rough Seas and What the Duck cocktails were good as well. Scallop cake sliders are unique and wonderful, and creole chicken club was packed with meat and cheese and really hit the spot.

The service at this establishment was quick. We didn't have one exact waitress as it appeared the staff worked together to take care of all of the tables. We did have one waitress who checked on us a little more often. The food was alright. I wouldn't say it was out of the world but was edible. We had to ask a couple times for refills which is odd cause most places when they see your glass low or empty they offer you a refill. This place is probably good for drinks and socializing as the food part was lacking. Could have been a bad night for them but probably wouldn't give it another try Seating is limited and you seat yourself.

Love the place.. there’s seating by the deck to hang out and enjoy the beautiful ocean and sunset but the bench and the chairs that they put for my opinion will be not that comfortable for us to eat our foods. The bench more for like to relax for having a drink. So we decided to seat inside and still be able to enjoy the ocean view. We got Hawaiian flatbread and mahi mahi tacos (substitute from halibut the waitress said they didn’t have that anymore). The flatbread was good, the mahi mahi tacos served with a weird corn tortillas, the fish had a good flavor but me and my husband we’re both didn’t really like the corn tortillas they used. Waiter and waitress were good.

Venue is really cool and therefore was very busy. Staff was very nice and patient… (had an issue with my Apple Pay and had to call support). The view was lovely. I thought you could see the sunset but that must be on other parts of the year, definitely not in May… but the clouds were still pretty. Great beer list. Had a snafu with my tacos which I escalated to a manager and she was sweet and got me taken care of. Would return for sure!

9/7/2025 Thank you for a great location to have our Navy Reunion Farwell Lunch, Service was outstanding Sean and Sara Lee were absolutely awesome. We had tried to get accommodations at an neighboring establishment and because it was the first football Sunday of the year they would not hold and area for us and said we would have to wait in the bar and take whatever opened up and Most of us were there 1.5hrs before they opened. The Back Deck not only welcomed us the sat us all together and stayed on top of taking care of our rowdy group. What an AWESOME Restaurant Highly Recommend to all Great Food and drinks.
